Yá’át’ééh, I am an Indigenous Environmental Professional and Principal Consultant of Elaine H. Wilson Consulting LLC. I am Táchii’nii (Red Running Into The Water People Clan), born for the Áshįįhíí (Salt People Clan), and my maternal grandfather is Kinłichii’nii (Red House People Clan), and my paternal grandfather is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). I am an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and grew up speaking my native Diné language. During my childhood years, my grandparents instructed me in the Diné way of life having respect for all life – the “five-fingered" (humanity), land, air, water, the four-legged, winged of the air, cultural and natural resources, etc. I was taught traditional ways of life through songs, prayers, dances, stories, weaving, sheepherding, corn grinding, gardening and cooking traditional foods. This grounding in early life set a foundation for my traditional indigenous knowledge and understanding. I honor my grandparents for their wise teaching, care and love. They are my honorable role models.

I have 34 years of invaluable professional experience working closely with tribal communities in the areas of environmental protection, environmental health, natural and cultural resources protection, stewardship, conservation, and sustainability.

For over 25 years, I worked for the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. (ITCA). While working at ITCA, I had an opportunity to collaborate with various Tribes and tribal representatives throughout the nation as well. For 11 years – from 2004 to 2015 – I served as the Environmental Quality Programs Director at ITCA. In 2015, I was very honored to receive the Conner Byestewa, Jr., Environmental Award, an award made in his honor to recognize the efforts of individuals that have made and strengthened tribal self-government and improved human health and environmental conditions within Indian Country in EPA Region 9. I am a graduate of Arizona State University and a Certified Public Manager. In addition to consulting work, I am employed by the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals at Northern Arizona University. Ahéhee’ (thank you) for visiting Elaine H. Wilson Consulting LLC website and we look forward to being of service to you.

Peace and blessings,

Elaine
