Tudor was raised on a small family farm and at an early age was taught many of the concepts we recognize today as essential to living sustainably. Recycling, composting and basic concepts of permaculture were regular practices on the farm. Today, these concepts and practices are still a part of his personal and professional work. Mr. Montague graduated from the University of Kansas with an undergraduate degree in environmental studies with an emphasis on policy.

Tudor has spent over 15 years working for tribes in the environmental field including spending significant time working on wildlife management and habitat restoration efforts. While working for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), Tudor assisted the Community Garden Program with implementation of their community gardens project in both the Lehi and Salt River Communities. This program included creating a composting program which was used to supplement their soils and help increase the productivity of their crops. This project also included extensive education and outreach about the benefits of composting for the Community. During his time working for the SRPMIC, he completed the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program, which is a semester-long course focused on the understanding and implementation of environmentally responsible gardening and landscaping principles.

Mr. Montague also provided support for the Gila Crossing Elementary School’s garden program and assisted with expanding their composting and recycling efforts. During this time, Tudor was responsible for developing and implementing a pilot project at the GRIC DEQ offices, which included a small office garden and composting stations. This was developed to help educate visiting community members on the benefits of gardening and how composting at home could reduce waste and improve garden health and yields.

In 2018, Mr. Montague was elected to serve on the board of directors for Native Seeds/Search, a non-profit native seed conservation organization located in Tucson, Arizona. He is an enrolled member of the Quechan Indian Tribe.
